Sifter Granulator
A sifter granulator separates particles based on size using a mesh or screen ensuring uniform particle size for further processing by removing oversized or undersized particles thus improving product quality.
There are three stages in its operation:
1. Feeding: Granules are loaded into the sifter, usually through a hopper or inlet.
2. Screening: Inside the sifter, there's a vibrating or rotating mesh screen. As the granules move across the screen, smaller particles pass through the mesh openings, while larger ones stay on top.
3. Separation: The sifted (smaller) granules are collected below the screen, while oversized particles are discharged separately.
The main advantages of using a sifter for granules are:
1. Improved Product Quality: Sifters remove oversized or undersized particles, ensuring that only granules of the desired size are included in the final product.
2. Uniform Particle Size: By separating particles based on size, sifters help achieve a more consistent and uniform particle size, which is important for further processing especially in achieving a more uniform distribution of weight on a tablet machine.
3. Versatility: Sifters are used in various industries, including pharmaceuticals (for tablet production), food processing (for spices and sugar), and chemicals/plastics.
4. Efficiency: The process is typically fast and can handle large quantities of material, making it suitable for industrial-scale operations.
